The Challenge
When the Australian Government announced its Solar Cities
initiative, Adelaide was selected as one of seven regions to trial
the scheme. Out of this, Adelaide Solar City was born, a Not for
Profit organization dedicated to engaging business, government and
the community in changing attitudes towards clean, alternative
energy. In line with this, the newly created, Adelaide Solar City
required a website that appealed to a demographically broad
audience while providing a high level of functionality for users to
interact with.
Our Strategy
To achieve the goals of the project, we appreciated that we
would have to move away from the traditional energy website model.
Adelaide Solar City was a uniquely modern company, operating in
uncharted waters, and its online presence had to be similarly
progressive. Therefore we used a vibrant, colourful creative that
would appeal to people of all ages, and incorporated
functionalities such as a Media Player and a Product Selector that
would engage visitors to the site in a meaningful dialogue.
The Results
The client was very happy with the end result, which proved to
be a successful integration of user interactivity and backend
functionality. The website drawcards, including enewsletters,
membership capabilities, and a media section were among the most
popular of the website and helped the Not for Profit engage a
younger audience. On top of this, the ease of use for updating
content by non technical staff members was increased by the Content
Management System that Next Digital selected.
