The Challenge
When Brisbane Water approached us, it was as a result of our
position on the Brisbane City Council's ICT panel.
Having proven ourselves efficient and consistent previously,
Brisbane Water charged us to review the architecture of their
intranet and document management solution. They wanted an agency
that could provide recommendations on how best to move forward,
recommendations that would remain in line with the organisations
future technology plans and supplement their digital presence.
Our Strategy
To best understand Brisbane Water's current architecture, and
their plans for moving forward, we participated in a week long
engagement of Business Analysts and Network Architects to review
the existing systems. We did this through meetings with
stakeholders and production of strategic documentation which
recommended solutions. After the review process, we combined the
information provided by the internal Brisbane Water stakeholders,
and our own Business Analysts in making a formal recommendation.
The ultimate document included two possible platforms that would
fit the organisations specific requirements.
The Results
Ultimately, we provided two suggestions for Brisbane Water, the
first, an Umbraco CMS with advanced search functionality using
dtSearch and a dotCMS, and the second a JSP technology CMS with JSP
search functionality. Recognising the importance of the final
decision in Brisbane Waters future direction, the documentation
behind these recommendations was thorough, and allowed the
organisation the level of detail required to ensure the correct
decision was made.
