The Challenge
After reviewing their current website, the Melbourne Cricket
Ground, identified a need to update their website. They required
more functionality, and wanted to increase the interactive elements
of the site in order to engage more users. After a highly
competitive tender process, we were successful in winning the web
redevelopment project for the iconic site.
Our Strategy
Due to the challenge of creating a dynamic, interactive site for
an iconic, Melbourne institution, we thought it was crucial to the
success of the project to utilise a team who were passionate about
sport in general and the MCG in particular -a team that would come
to the project with an existing user understanding the
requirements. Utilising the Sitecore CMS solution, the site is
designed to provide the public with relevant information including
events, seating plans, corporate hospitality and match day
information.
The Results
Upon going live, the site was a resounding success. With
functionality ranging from web cams, a virtual tour, events
calendar and polls, the site nevertheless maintained its iconic
status, the history aspect of the site integrating well with web
2.0 interactivity. Following on from this project we became the
MCGs digital agency of roster and provide email communications
resource on an ongoing basis. In addition we went on to redevelop
the Melbourne Cricket Club and National Sport Museum websites.
