JAVA

Next Digital has worked with customers to implement business solutions using various Java Technologies. Our team is experienced in J2SE and J2EE technologies such as Servlets, JSP, EJB, JDBC and Open Source technologies such as Struts and Hibernate. We have targeted application servers such as BEA Weblogic, IBM Websphere, Sun One Application Server and Tomcat.

OPEN SOURCE

Many of our customers prefer to follow an Open Source development life cycle, and as such, prefer to rely on Open Source technologies. Next Digital has developed a specialised team thats primary focus is deliver solutions based on Open Source technologies. These include:

Based on some of the worlds best practices to ensure successful project delivery, and consistently being revised and improved, our methodologies focus on flexible process guidance. We try to reduce the number of unnecessary events (documents, meetings etc) while using our experience to ensure what we deliver is what the client is requesting.

FLEXIBLE

TOOLS

We use a number of tools to ensure that everyone is aware of the project status, from the customers to the Project Managers to the Development Teams. These tools include:

• Team Foundation Server - Microsoft's first generation of IT project delivery guidance tools.
• my.next - my.next is our custom built tool for collection, organising and tracking work within Next Digital. Now tightly integrated with Team Foundation Server, my.next ensures accurate tasks and hours are tracked for all projects.
• Extensive Staging Infrastructure - Next Digital makes available an entire staging environment for all our customers work.

Infrastructure

Next Digitals infrastructure team is responsible for designing, implementing and running many of Australia's largest web sites and online applications. With more than 15 years in the ISP and networking business, our Infrastructure Manager knows how to get large systems up, and keep them up. Our Data Center is state-of-the-art and allows our clients online applications and web sites to run 24/7/365.

Some of the features of our data center include

BANDWIDTH

When hosting online applications, bandwidth is one of the key aspects. Some interesting aspects of our network connectivity are:

• Redundant 100mb fiber links to both Optus and Uecomm with room to migrate up to 1GB for each link
• Gigabit core network speeds
• Bandwidth peak utilisation below 15%
• Redundant border and core routers
• We own our IP address allocations to ensure network portability
• Each network provider enters the building at physically opposite corners of the building

POWER

With our Data Center located in the old State Electrical Company building, our power infrastructure is second to none.

• Located on two separate power grids
• Diesel generator power backup
• Room based battery UPS
• Power switch board is independent and secured from the rest of the building
• Fail over cooling for the entire Data Center

SECURITY

While network security is an important aspect of any Data Center, the physical security of our equipment is also important. Some key aspects include:

• Dual biometric and access code identification and authentication to ensure physical security to the Data Center
• Digital photo of all people entering and exiting the facilities
• Reinforced steel meshed walls and ceiling
• Microwave / Infrared detection systems in the wall and roof cavities
• 24/7/365 CCTV recording and monitoring of the entire facility
• Redundant managed firewalls protecting all assets on our network
• Monthly security audits
• Managed patch management on managed assets

CONSULTING

As well as experience running our own infrastructure, we have helped many of our clients delivery secure, reliable infrastructure. Some of these projects include:

• Designing and implementing the hosting infrastructure for the Ford regional CMS solution including site redundancy
• Assisting Telstra with auditing and designing robust infrastructure for their 3G and telstra.com hosting
• Securing remote office locations for many of our clients using IPSec based VPNs
