Next Digital Finds The Right Search For BHP Billiton

Next Digital completed a comprehensive search application for BHP Biliton which was integrated in their intranet and public facing websites. With advanced usability and categorisation of documents, the website was intuitive to navigate.

The Challenge

BHP Billiton needed a way to create knowledge sharing across the globe for all the key document and resources developed by their staff.

The Solution

Next Digital designed an Enterprise Search Solution based on the Verity Search Engine. The BHPB Enterprise Search UI application was developed by Next Digital and integrated into the BHPB environment by CSC.

The solution is integrated with the recent rollout of Documentum Document Management and uses an Enterprise Classification Schema (ECS). This approach of implementing a baseline enterprise taxonomy resulted in a consistent and recognisable categorisation of documents, greatly improving search, accuracy and usability.

The Enterprise Search provided simple, advanced searches and the ability to create and edit saved searches, as well as create and edit custom search profile.

The solution was implemented in 12 months and has resulted in extensive improvements to Knowledge management with BHPB.
